Unserious has taken ownership of Creepz, one of the most recognizable NFT collections from the 2021-22 boom cycle. The deal, announced July 22 in Miami, was backed by entrepreneur and investor Adam Weitsman and carried the blessing of the original Creepz founders.
The headline detail buried in the press release is actually the real story. Psychrome, the creative mind who built the entire Creepz lore from scratch, is coming back. He'll lead IP development under the new ownership, and his credentials go well beyond the NFT world: he's a globally exhibited artist with commercial work for Nike, Salomon, Sneaker Con, Staple, Disney, Warner Bros., and Rovio. That's a fairly unusual resume for someone returning to a lizard-themed crypto brand.
Who Is Running the Show Now
The Unserious team describes itself as a decentralized brand builder, and the people behind it have hands-on experience across consumer brands, entertainment, and enterprise tech. They also claim a role in some of crypto's largest token launches, including ApeCoin, which at its peak became one of the most talked-about launches in the space.
The combination of Weitsman's capital, Psychrome's creative return, and that operating background is clearly meant to signal this isn't a distressed asset flip. Creepz built a cult following around its lizard mythology, and the new team is betting that IP still has commercial legs outside the original NFT market cycle.
Unserious also took a moment to officially deny that lizard people exist, that they are engaged in any evil activities, or that CREEPZ has any plans for world domination. Whether that clarification was strictly necessary remains unclear.
