Unserious has acquired Creepz, one of the most recognizable NFT collections from the 2021-22 cycle, with backing from entrepreneur and investor Adam Weitsman. The original founders supported the deal, handing the lizard-cult brand to a team that has been involved in some of crypto's biggest token launches, including ApeCoin.
The headline name returning alongside the acquisition is Psychrome, the original creative force behind the Creepz lore. He's back to lead IP development and brings a portfolio that goes well beyond Web3: his commercial work spans Nike, Salomon, Sneaker Con, Staple, Disney, Warner Bros., and Rovio, with his art shown in galleries worldwide. That's a rare combination of brand-world credibility and on-chain native instinct.
A team built for more than a rebrand
The Unserious roster covers consumer brands, entertainment, and enterprise tech, not just crypto. The ApeCoin launch sits on their résumé as a reference point for scale, but the pitch here is broader: the group describes itself as focused on decentralized brands, suggesting Creepz is meant to function as an IP platform rather than a static collection gathering dust in wallets.
In what may be the deal's most memorable footnote, Unserious took a moment to formally deny the existence of lizard people, their alleged evil activities, and any plans for $CREEPZ world domination. The announcement offered no further comment on the matter.
