Blockchain Capital just became a major shareholder in Securitize, rolling over roughly 9.83 million shares into a 6% stake of the newly public tokenization platform. The move arrived via an SEC filing dated July 9, 2026, just over a week after Securitize completed its SPAC merger and began trading on the NYSE under ticker SECZ.

The relationship between these two runs deeper than a typical investor bet. Back between 2017 and 2019, Blockchain Capital was actually one of Securitize's first customers. The venture capital firm worked with the platform to tokenize its Fund III, creating the BCAP token, one of the earliest attempts at building a tokenized venture fund from the ground up. That hands-on experience convinced the firm that the model actually worked.

That conviction showed up in real money. When Securitize closed its Series B in June 2021, co-led by Morgan Stanley and worth $48 million, Blockchain Capital participated. They weren't just cheerleading from the sidelines, they were putting capital behind a platform they'd already stress-tested with their own assets. The BCAP token itself is now getting an upgrade, transitioning to ZKsync infrastructure.

Securitize has since tokenized over $4 billion in assets on its platform as of mid-2026, including BlackRock's BUIDL fund. On the same day the SPAC merger closed, the company simultaneously tokenized its own common stock on both Solana and Avalanche, creating around $295 million in tokenized shares. SECZ opened at $12.50.
