The XRP Ledger is gearing up for a significant software update, version 3.3.0, expected to roll out next week. This upgrade brings five new features designed to boost tokenization capabilities and better support institutional finance and real-world asset adoption.

Jazzi Cooper, RippleX Head of Product, shared details about the pending protocol changes. Among them are Confidential MPT, Batch processing, Permission Delegation, Sponsored Fees and Reserves, plus Dynamic MPT. These improvements aim to enhance privacy, security, and make it easier for financial institutions to onboard and transact using the XRPL.

Upgrade Details and Voting Process

The new protocol features will activate only after securing at least 80% approval from XRP Ledger validators for two consecutive weeks, following the network’s amendment voting process. Cooper highlighted that XRPL has already proven its ability to handle tokenized assets at scale, and this update will expand its functionality to support global transfers, trading, collateralization, and settlement more efficiently.

Confidential MPT stands out by introducing privacy safeguards for tokenized assets, a much-needed feature given growing institutional interest in using blockchain for tokenizing traditional assets such as government bonds, real estate, and equities.

As competition heats up among blockchains to attract institutional tokenization projects, this upgrade positions XRP Ledger to meet increasing demand from financial firms seeking cost-effective and secure blockchain solutions.
