Active accounts on the XRP Ledger (XRPL) have plunged by over 50% in 2026, falling from 15,571 on January 1 to just 7,630 by July 20. This sharp drop to year-to-date lows highlights a significant contraction in network engagement, despite XRP’s technical indicators pointing to a bullish price rally.

Decline in Transactions and Tokenization Signals Reduced Network Usage

The number of payments between accounts on XRPL has similarly hit its lowest point this year, reflecting waning transactional activity. This downturn accelerated over recent days, suggesting not just a gradual decline but a more abrupt withdrawal of user participation.

Tokenization volumes, a key driver of XRPL network usage, have suffered a steep setback. The 30-day transfer volume for Real World Assets (RWA) has collapsed by more than 80%, dropping to $99.49 million. Stablecoin transfers have also contracted by over 28%, now totaling around $3.75 billion. These figures indicate less demand for XRPL’s tokenization and stablecoin utility, which traditionally bolster on-chain activity.

Price Outlook and Market Implications

Contrary to the diminishing network activity, XRP’s price has avoided new yearly lows, currently trading near $1.09, close to a support level established in June. Technical analysis suggests a potential rally toward $1.35, bolstered by a decreasing supply of XRP on Binance exchanges a sign that large holders may be accumulating.

The divergence between declining network engagement and stable or improving price performance raises intriguing questions about underlying market dynamics. If XRPL activity rebounds, it could catalyze a stronger bullish momentum for XRP, potentially validating the technical outlook. However, sustained low activity might signal caution for traders relying on on-chain metrics as a leading indicator.
