Pendle, a protocol specializing in yield tokenization, has swiftly amassed $111 million in total value locked (TVL) on the Monad blockchain less than a month after its June 19 launch. This rapid rise places Pendle as the fifth-largest protocol on Monad, underscoring the growing appetite for yield trading within emerging blockchain ecosystems.
Drivers Behind the Explosive Growth
A key catalyst for Pendle’s expansion on Monad is the widespread adoption of AUSD, the Agora Dollar stablecoin. Backed one-to-one by cash, US Treasury bills, and repos, AUSD’s supply on Monad has surged to approximately $115 million, ranking it second only to USDC among stablecoins on the chain. This stablecoin foundation provides a reliable asset base for Pendle’s yield-splitting markets.
Within the first 10 days on Monad, Pendle secured around $51 million in TVL and has since more than doubled that figure. Currently, the platform operates at least three active markets focusing on AUSD and its yield-bearing counterpart earnAUSD, with maturities clustered around October 8, 2026. These defined windows allow traders to either hedge or speculate on future yield streams with greater precision.
Incentives and Ecosystem Impact
Pendle’s growth is significantly propelled by aggressive liquidity incentives, offering up to $75,000 weekly for AUSD liquidity providers. This equates to roughly $300,000 in monthly subsidies, directly rewarding participation and liquidity depth. Such incentives, coupled with Pendle’s integration with Aave v3 which attracted over $75 million in deposits within 24 hours illustrate how yield tokenization protocols can rapidly bootstrap liquidity in nascent chains.
Across all supported blockchains, Pendle’s ecosystem now commands over $1.14 billion in TVL, with the Monad deployment accounting for nearly 10% of this total. The PENDLE token trades at about $1.64, implying a market capitalization around $281.55 million, signaling investor confidence but also raising questions about long-term sustainability of incentive-driven growth.
While Pendle’s model enables innovative trading strategies by splitting principal and future yield into separate tokens, the heavy reliance on liquidity rewards to drive adoption invites scrutiny. As the protocol matures, market participants will need to assess whether organic demand for yield tokenization can maintain momentum without ongoing subsidies.
