Real Madrid has launched talks with RB Leipzig to secure the transfer of Yan Diomande, a 19-year-old winger widely regarded as one of Europe’s most exciting young talents. This move underlines Madrid’s ongoing strategy to snap up promising players early, ahead of rival clubs.
Diomande joined Leipzig only in July 2025 from CD Leganés for around €20 million. In less than a year, he has transformed from a La Liga prospect into a hot commodity attracting interest from the world’s biggest clubs.
From Rising Star to Transfer Target
Born in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, in November 2006, Diomande made a fast impression after arriving in the Bundesliga. Wearing the number 49 shirt, he earned a call-up to the Ivorian national team by October 2025, just months into his stint at Leipzig, as the squad prepared for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
His commitment to Leipzig runs until 2030, giving the German side strong bargaining power. Nevertheless, Leipzig has cultivated a reputation for profitable sales when heavyweight clubs come knocking, as seen in previous deals involving players like Naby Keita and Dayot Upamecano.
Reports suggest Paris Saint-Germain is also interested, which could spark a competitive bidding war and push Diomande’s transfer fee well above Leipzig’s initial investment. His representation by Roc Nation Sports, an agency aggressively expanding into football, could also influence negotiations.
