Between June 2024 and December 2025, Bitcoin’s electricity consumption climbed by 38%, reaching around 190 terawatt-hours annually. Despite this sharp rise in power use, emissions grew by only about 20%, highlighting the impact of a cleaner energy mix. Low-carbon sources now contribute nearly 60% of the total energy used for mining, up from 52.4% reported in April 2025.
