David Solomon came out in support of the CLARITY Act this week, telling reporters the Goldman Sachs chief sees the crypto market structure bill as worth backing even if it falls short of perfect. A congressional vote is expected soon, and Solomon's endorsement carries weight at a moment when the bill's path is anything but smooth.

The sticking point for much of Wall Street is a set of stablecoin provisions tucked into the legislation. Several financial companies and banks have pushed back on those clauses, leaving the industry split at a critical moment for crypto regulation on Capitol Hill. Solomon's position is notably more pragmatic: imperfect legislation that moves the market structure conversation forward beats continued regulatory limbo.

The CLARITY Act broadly aims to draw clearer lines between which digital assets fall under SEC jurisdiction and which belong to the CFTC, a question that has dogged the industry for years. No final vote date has been confirmed, but congressional sources suggest the floor schedule could open up within weeks.
