Paul Sacks is now American Bitcoin's interim chief financial officer as of August 4, stepping in after Matthew Prusak's resignation from the top finance job. The company filed the change with the SEC on July 31, keeping the president's seat empty for now.
The leadership move lands alongside solid second-quarter numbers. American Bitcoin mined 932 Bitcoin, up 14% from the prior quarter, and posted $67 million in revenue. The firm's bitcoin treasury has grown to 8,002 BTC, a key metric for mining operators who hold rather than immediately sell their production.
Sacks joined American Bitcoin just three months ago in May, coming from BlockFills where he ran digital exotics derivatives for institutional clients. Before that he co-founded Digital Gamma, a crypto derivatives and risk management shop. He'll keep his head-of-derivatives title while handling the CFO post, a dual role that reflects the company's focus on sophisticated trading strategies alongside mining.
The Eric Trump-led company has grown its mining footprint steadily, but leadership turnover in the CFO seat signals potential friction. Prusak held both the president and interim CFO roles before departing, and the board hasn't yet named a permanent finance chief or filled the president vacancy. That leaves a gap in day-to-day operations, even with an experienced derivatives hand like Sacks now overseeing the numbers.
