On July 24, Zimbabwe’s Securities and Exchange Commission (SECZ) approved seven fintech projects to enter its regulatory sandbox, allowing them to pilot blockchain, tokenization, and crowdfunding initiatives under official oversight.
The selected companies, including Zimbabwe Entrepreneurship Exchange and Questview Brokers, represent a mix of asset tokenization, blockchain infrastructure, and capital market innovation. This sandbox offers a supervised space for live testing but does not guarantee full licensing or commercial registration.
Sandbox Builds on Existing Framework
The SECZ’s sandbox complements an earlier initiative launched by the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe in 2021, which focused more broadly on fintech innovation. also the 2025 Virtual Assets Act set the legal stage for virtual asset services, enabling this new regulatory environment.
This setup aims to protect investors by enforcing compliance during the trial phase. Projects that fail to meet requirements risk being halted, while successful ones must still clear stringent hurdles before full market entry.
