XRP jumped this week as traders priced in fresh hopes around the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, a proposed US framework that could finally settle how tokens like XRP are classified under securities law. The coin hit $1.12 before pulling back 1.06%, mirroring the broader market where Bitcoin slipped to $65,082 and Ethereum dipped to $1,904.
The legislative backdrop matters here. The Clarity Act, if passed, would hand regulatory oversight of most digital assets to the CFTC rather than the SEC, a shift that Ripple's legal team and XRP holders have been waiting years for. Ripple's long-running battle with the SEC gave the coin a particular sensitivity to any Washington signal, and the bill's renewed momentum in congressional discussions was enough to push XRP above key resistance levels earlier this week.
What the charts are actually saying
The breakout looked clean on the daily, but weekly momentum indicators told a different story. RSI stayed below the 60 threshold that typically confirms a sustained move, and trading volume on the rally was thinner than during XRP's November 2024 surge to $2.90. That prior peak remains a distant reference point. At $1.12, XRP is still more than 60% below its cycle high.
Elsewhere in the session, WLFI led the board with a 13.34% gain, KAITO added 9.69%, and HBAR climbed 1.99%. On the losing side, HASH dropped 17.83%, VIRTUAL fell 6.13%, and ETHFI shed 5.54%. The moves suggest risk appetite was selective rather than broad, with money rotating into specific narratives rather than lifting the whole market.
Solana held near $76.96, down 0.28%, while Dogecoin slid 1.20% to $0.0715. Gold-backed tokens XAUT and PAXG both lost around 1.25%, tracking spot gold lower on the session.
For XRP specifically, the next technical level to watch sits around $1.20. A clean weekly close above that with volume would give bulls a stronger case. Without it, the Clarity Act optimism may stay just that, optimism.
