On August 1st, the XRP Ledger recorded an impressive surge in daily payment volume, briefly exceeding one billion XRP transferred between accounts. Just as quickly, this figure plummeted by about 90%, dropping back to approximately 100 million XRP the very next day. Such a volatile swing highlights the unpredictable nature of activity on this network.
This sharp rise and fall isn’t necessarily a sign that the XRP Ledger is gaining or losing users. Instead, these wild fluctuations tend to reflect large, one-off events like institutional moves, treasury management, or exchange-related transactions. They don’t usually indicate steady organic growth in demand. In fact, on-chain data shows these isolated spikes happen fairly regularly, inflating transaction volumes before settling back to typical levels.
XRP’s price action mirrors this network turbulence. After failing to hold onto a short-term uptrend established in late July, XRP is currently trading near $1.07, with the 50-day EMA still acting as resistance. Such gyrations shows how the token remains sensitive to short-term shifts rather than a sustained bullish momentum.
