Axelar flipped the switch on a new route. The XRP Ledger and its EVM Sidechain are now live on the Axelar App, meaning assets can move across chains without the usual middlemen and delays.

Until now, the XRPL EVM Sidechain had already connected to more than 80 blockchains through Axelar. The update brings the main XRP Ledger itself into the picture. For people holding XRP or building on the network, that means wrapped Bitcoin, Ethereum tokens, tokenized Treasury bills, and nine other supported assets can flow in and out with fewer intermediaries.

Liquidity without friction

The list of supported tokens spans XRP, SHx, USDf, SOIL, WETH, WBTC, mBTC, mTBILL, and mXRP. Users bridge them through the Axelar interface and settle on the XRP Ledger in seconds. No more relying on centralized exchanges or one-off bridges for every cross-chain move. The practical win is simpler: more liquidity paths mean tighter spreads and faster execution for traders and developers.

Interoperability was the gap that held back a lot of payment-focused ledgers from reaching real DeFi depth. XRP started strong on payments but struggled to compete where decentralized finance matters. Axelar's bridge closes that gap by letting stablecoins, derivatives, and other instruments flow freely between XRP and the rest of the ecosystem. That's 80+ blockchains now accessible from a single interface.
