Upbit's XRP reserves have plunged to their lowest level since May, dropping to just 6.43 billion tokens, while Binance’s holdings remain about 200 million XRP short of their March highs. This notable contraction in XRP available on exchanges coincides with the coin trading around $1.10, revealing a liquidity squeeze that could reshape market dynamics.

Exchange Supply Dwindling Across Major Platforms

Data from CryptoQuant highlights a significant drop in XRP sitting on exchanges. Upbit’s XRP stash has steadily declined, reflecting a shift in investor behavior away from keeping tokens on platforms where they can be quickly sold. Binance, the largest exchange by volume, also reports lower XRP balances compared to earlier this year. This trend suggests a broad move towards private wallets and long-term holding, reducing the immediate sell pressure on XRP.

Exchange reserves act as an important indicator of market liquidity. When large amounts of a cryptocurrency leave exchanges, it limits the pool of tokens available for quick trades. For XRP, this tightening supply means that any surge in buying demand could trigger larger price swings due to fewer tokens being accessible.

Decreased Exchange Activity Points to Investor Patience

Alongside shrinking reserves, Binance has seen its XRP transaction volume fall sharply. Deposits and withdrawals dropped from roughly 650,000 in June to about 350,000, a decline near 46%. This cooling activity could mean fewer traders are moving XRP between exchange wallets and personal accounts, potentially signaling that holders are choosing to keep their positions stable rather than trade frequently.

Market analyst Xaif Crypto draws parallels to a similar pattern observed before XRP’s October 2025 rally, where diminishing exchange balances and subdued selling presaged a strong price climb. While this historical precedent is intriguing, broader factors like institutional interest, regulatory developments, and overall market sentiment will heavily influence XRP’s trajectory.

Growing Network Use and Bullish Sentiment

Additional clues point to increasing network activity on the XRP Ledger, including over 1.4 million transactions involving AI agents, which could signal expanding utility. Reports of reduced selling by whales further support a bullish outlook.

Some analysts are eyeing a potential breakout that could push XRP toward $6.40, with even higher targets if momentum holds. However, the path remains uncertain, hinging on how supply constraints intersect with demand amid evolving market conditions.
