xAI rolled out a significant upgrade to Grok Imagine on August 1, boosting the AI tool's ability to generate voice-consistent, full HD video and maintain visual consistency across scenes. This update introduces up to three audio inputs and seven image references for paid users, a notable step forward for creators seeking polished AI-generated content.
Voice Stability and Visual Consistency
Before this update, Grok Imagine struggled to keep a character’s voice consistent, sometimes resulting in sudden accent changes mid-scene. Now, the new multi-channel audio reference system lets creators anchor their characters to specific voice profiles, greatly reducing those awkward shifts.
Visual consistency also gets a boost with support for up to seven image references. Creators can lock down looks for characters, environments, or objects over multiple generations, ensuring their videos and images hold together better.
Full HD Video Without Upscaling
The system now outputs native 1080p video for both text-to-video and image-to-video workflows. This is a big deal because most AI video tools still rely on upscaling lower-resolution footage, which can degrade quality and add extra work. Grok Imagine’s approach delivers smoother, clearer videos straight from the generation process.
This update is available only to subscribers, reflecting xAI’s strategy to monetize advanced features. Free users have already seen their access to video and image generation limited in 2026.
