A new ethics amendment tucked into the CLARITY Act hit World Liberty Financial hard this week. The token shed over 5% almost immediately after the provision went public, with its lowest wick touching $0.0513 pulling WLFI back to price levels not seen since early May in a single trading session.
What the numbers actually show
The amendment tightens restrictions on high-profile public officials, limiting their ability to own or profit from certain crypto assets. Given that WLFI is directly tied to the Trump family, and that Trump's crypto ventures reportedly generated around $1.4 billion in 2025 with WLFI accounting for a significant portion of that income, the market connected the dots fast.
On-chain data collected by Deep Blue Alpha makes the picture clearer. Across 163 whale wallets tracked over 30 days and 1,224 separate trades, WLFI recorded $12.72 million in inflows against $13.25 million in outflows, a net outflow of $531,700 with a 49% buy ratio. Then things got worse. In just the last 24 hours of that window, net outflows hit $351,000 on a buy ratio of only 22%. Large holders moved to cut exposure fast.
How traders are reading the bill's odds
The broader market reaction to the CLARITY Act itself tells a different story from WLFI's chart. Polymarket now puts the probability of the act being signed into law in 2026 at roughly 40%, down from close to 50% earlier in the same week. The ethics clause was supposed to strengthen the bill's chances of passing; instead, it introduced a new layer of uncertainty around who benefits from crypto and how regulators might draw that line.
Traders are not pricing in the amendment as a bullish catalyst. WLFI's price action is diverging from any optimism around the legislation, and the sell pressure from whale wallets suggests that large holders are not waiting around to find out how the provision gets interpreted. The Trump family's crypto exposure, now formally under ethical scrutiny, has become a live market variable rather than a background detail.
