Over the weekend of July 26, two crypto platforms revealed security breaches. WEMIX reported unauthorized activity on a WEMIX$ contract, while Garden Finance took its app offline following suspicious transactions.

WEMIX detected abnormal transactions that led to 5.2 million WEMIX$ tokens being issued without approval. These tokens were converted into 30,736 WEMIX and over 724,000 USDC.e, then transferred through Ethereum and Binance Smart Chain bridges into assets like Ether and Tether.

Some of these assets landed on centralized exchanges. WEMIX has requested these exchanges and stablecoin issuers to freeze the attacker’s wallets. The platform also temporarily suspended all bridges linked to WEMIX3.0, including Chainlink CCIP and the PLAY Bridge, while investigating the cause.

Meanwhile, security firm Blockaid flagged a $450,000 USDT exploit on Garden Finance spanning Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, and BSC. Garden Finance responded by taking their app offline and committing to a full investigation.

This weekend’s incidents fit a broader 2026 trend. TRM Labs recorded 207 crypto hacks in the first half of the year, more than double the 83 from the same period in 2025. However, total stolen funds dropped sharply to $972 million from $2.3 billion, showing more frequent but smaller attacks.

High-profile targets like KelpDAO and Drift Protocol still suffered the biggest losses. Last week alone saw three attacks totaling $35.55 million against platforms including AFX Trade and the Verus Ethereum bridge.
