$2.4 million raised in a private seed sale, and VC Spectra (SPCT) is already into Stage 2 of its public presale with investors still piling in. That kind of early momentum is hard to ignore, especially when the two tokens it's being compared against, Optimism (OP) and Filecoin (FIL), are both having a rough time translating network growth into price gains.
Optimism (OP) had a genuinely interesting July. Daily transactions on its mainnet crossed 600,000 twice, a jump driven largely by Worldcoin's launch on the OP chain. The Sam Altman-backed project pulled in at least 250,000 holders through an airdrop campaign, which gave Optimism real traffic. Still, OP is sitting at $1.475 after recovering from a low of $1.453, and it's down 2.71% on the week. Analysts put a potential 2023 high at $1.785, but only if OP can break through the resistance cluster sitting at $1.575.
Filecoin's numbers are more complicated. Active deals grew 64% quarter-on-quarter according to Messari, and storage utilization ticked up 7% in Q2 2023. The network generated $11 million in revenue that quarter, though that figure is actually 40% below what it brought in a year earlier. Price-wise, FIL has been rejected twice at $5.05. Bears see a potential slide to $3.25; bulls are calling for $5.00 by year-end, leaning on the usage growth as their argument.
SPCT sits in a different position entirely, still in presale, no open-market price discovery yet, which makes it a higher-stakes bet than either OP or FIL at current levels.
