Mastercard and Intel are both within striking distance of reaching a $500 billion market capitalization this year. Mastercard sits close to $477 billion, needing just about 5% growth to breach the half-trillion mark. Intel's valuation has recently bounced between $464 billion and $515 billion, hovering around the milestone.
Mastercard's rise ties directly to the global shift from cash to digital payments. The company handles trillions in payment volume yearly and sees expanding adoption, especially in emerging markets. Its latest results showed revenue surging by around 16% to 17%, with net income climbing about 18%. Analysts forecast 10% to 12.5% revenue growth annually and earnings per share increasing 15% to 16%, fueled by Mastercard’s strong brand and extensive payment network. The firm is also diversifying into cybersecurity and data analytics, aiming to reinforce steady growth.
Intel's recent boost comes from the AI sector. The chipmaker posted a 25% year-over-year revenue increase last quarter, driven by a 59% jump in its data center and AI business. Strong demand for server processors has enabled Intel to raise its guidance and plan over $20 billion in capital expenditures. Its efforts to expand its foundry services and accelerate next-gen manufacturing tech are part of a longer-term strategy to stay competitive.
As AI adoption grows across cloud and enterprise markets, Intel looks set to benefit significantly. Meanwhile, Mastercard’s steady rise reflects ongoing changes in how transactions happen worldwide, underscoring both companies’ potential to join the world’s largest publicly traded firms.
