Strive, Inc., a Nasdaq-listed firm led by CEO Matt Cole, has crossed a major threshold, now holding over 20,000 BTC following the acquisition of 79 additional coins. This milestone places the company among the top institutional Bitcoin holders in the market.

The bitcoin accumulation journey began less than a year ago. Strive transformed into a Bitcoin treasury company after merging with Asset Entities in September 2025. Initially, the firm held only 69 BTC acquired through a Section 351 exchange. Since then, the company has pursued a steady and aggressive buying strategy, including a significant purchase of 2,500 BTC in June 2026, one of the largest single buys in its history.

By mid-July 2026, Strive’s Bitcoin stash neared 19,921 coins, valued at roughly $1.3 billion. The company’s approach treats Bitcoin as a primary reserve asset, emphasizing capital allocation over speculation. This strategy echoes the playbook first popularized by MicroStrategy now Strategy but with added layers aiming not only to hold Bitcoin but also to outperform it through alpha-generating activities.

Shares of Strive (ticker ASST) have generally reacted positively to new Bitcoin purchases. As of July 17, 2026, the firm maintained a cash balance of $157.4 million, providing some buffer against volatility. Despite this, Strive's balance sheet remains heavily concentrated in Bitcoin, exposing it to sharp value swings if prices decline.

With 20,000 BTC, Strive ranks roughly between seventh and ninth among publicly traded companies by Bitcoin holdings, depending on tracking sources. For investors, the key indicator is BTC per share rather than total Bitcoin owned, as dilution or accretion affects shareholder value directly. CEO Matt Cole has highlighted this metric as the company’s guiding principle.
