Strategy, the company once known as MicroStrategy, has strengthened its financial position by raising approximately $525 million through sales of its Class A common stock. This move increased its total cash reserves to $3.75 billion as of July 26, marking another significant step in padding the company’s liquidity.

Cash Strategy and Capital Raises

Covering nearly $1.76 billion in annual commitments, including preferred stock dividends and debt interest, Strategy now holds enough funds to sustain operations for just over two years. The company’s cautious approach focuses on extending its runway without tapping into its vast Bitcoin holdings.

Just a week prior, Strategy had already boosted its reserve by $225 million, climbing from $3 billion to $3.225 billion. This recent activity is part of a broader trend: since December 2025, when the USD reserve was $1.44 billion, Strategy has more than doubled its liquid assets in less than seven months. Investors seem to welcome this trend, sending the stock price up by over 7%, closing near $98.50 after the announcement.

Strategy’s Bitcoin stash of 843,775 BTC, acquired at around $63.69 billion, remains untouched. Rather than selling any of this position to fund obligations, the company prefers equity issuance to meet financial needs. The transition from MicroStrategy to Strategy reflects a deliberate repositioning from a software-centric business to a Bitcoin-focused holding entity.

Generating or raising close to $5 million daily is necessary for the company to meet its financial obligations, underscoring the importance of maintaining a solid cash buffer. The company’s use of at-the-market offerings allows for gradual stock sales that minimize market disruption and provide flexibility in capital management.

This cash strategy creates a safety net for investors, allowing the company to endure Bitcoin volatility without selling assets. However, with a runway of just over two years, Strategy will likely need to secure additional funding before mid-2028. The accelerated pace of recent capital raises signals management's intent to secure liquidity while market conditions remain favorable.
