Jurassic Finance is making waves by tokenizing Deaton, a Triceratops prorsus skull, on Solana, claiming it as the first-ever dinosaur to enter the blockchain space. The skull is museum-grade, about 60-65% intact by bone mass, and the project aims to offer it as a unique real-world asset (RWA) on the Solana network.
The process involves Jurassic Finance Labs acquiring verified dinosaur fossils and creating Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) for each specimen. These SPVs issue tokens using Solana’s SPL standard, granting holders economic and legal rights related to the physical asset without touching authentication, custody, or insurance, which remain off-chain. Ownership records, however, are securely maintained on-chain.
Jurassic Finance also highlighted that museums fund display and operational costs, ensuring token holders are shielded from ongoing expenses while still benefiting economically. The recent Deaton token sale opened with a 660,000 USDC goal. Out of that, 600,000 USDC goes into escrow for the seller, while 60,000 USDC supports the RAWR token treasury. Token holders receive 95% of the 1 million Deaton tokens, with the remaining 5% reserved for the project treasury.
This announcement sent the RAWR token soaring, with data from BeInCrypto Markets showing an 89% price jump in the last 24 hours. The RWA tokenization market is booming, growing 267% in value over the past year, standing out as one of the few crypto sectors gaining ground while others faltered. Solana ranks third in distributed asset value, holding a nearly 10% share with $3.59 billion in assets on its ledger.
