Triple-A revealed a breach of its treasury wallets, resulting in an estimated loss of $11.8 million in company-owned crypto assets. Importantly, the firm assured that customer funds remained untouched, as client holdings are kept separately in trust accounts. The incident prompted Triple-A to temporarily suspend some services while securing its systems.

On July 25, Triple-A discovered unauthorized access to wallets containing its digital assets. It clarified that it does not offer custody services, so client assets were not exposed. After about three hours of maintenance, all services resumed with normal transaction flow. The company is collaborating with cybersecurity teams and local authorities to investigate the theft and attempt asset recovery.

Less than a day later, the WEMIX blockchain faced its own crisis. Attackers exploited a flaw in the WEMIX$ stablecoin contract and minted approximately 5.22 million unbacked tokens. They converted some of these tokens and transferred around $724,000 off-chain before the protocol shut down bridges and decentralized exchange activity. Early estimates incorrectly suggested losses exceeding $6 million, but WEMIX confirmed the actual bridged amount was closer to $724,000. The project urged exchanges to freeze any suspicious funds during their ongoing probe.

Growing Concerns Over Crypto Security

These two attacks highlight persistent risks surrounding treasury wallet security and smart contract weaknesses. This year alone, the crypto industry has suffered over $1 billion in losses from hacks, underscoring ongoing vulnerabilities. While Triple-A’s breach affected only operational wallets and is expected to be covered by treasury reserves, the WEMIX incident demonstrates how stablecoin contracts remain tempting targets for attackers.

Both cases serve as reminders that safeguarding digital assets requires constant vigilance and rapid response. The involvement of blockchain forensic experts and law enforcement reflects the complexity of tracking and reclaiming stolen crypto.
