Samsung Wallet could soon hold more than just tickets and cards. The company showed off a stablecoin feature during Galaxy Unpacked 2026, with a dollar-pegged balance in the Wallet interface, allowing users to send, receive, and top up funds smoothly. Although Samsung hasn’t revealed a launch date or regions, the inclusion signals big moves toward mainstream crypto payments.

The demo hinted at USDC-style accounts, suggesting a potential tie-in with Circle or similar issuers, but nothing is confirmed. Users would verify their identity, add funds through bank transfers or cards, and see balances ready for real-world spending either peer-to-peer on-chain or during merchant checkouts. Samsung also paired this with the new Galaxy Card on Visa, which offers cash rewards tied to Wallet balances, potentially bridging stablecoins and everyday transactions.

This could reshape payments at scale, cutting costs on cross-border transfers and reducing merchant fees by routing money on programmable networks without changing how people pay. Banks and card networks are watching closely. If Samsung pulls this off, stablecoins could move from niche crypto tools to commonplace instruments stored alongside debit cards. For now, the roadmap is open, custody models are undecided, and stablecoins have a chance to join the mainstream wallet experience.
