July 23. Robinhood's Layer-2 blockchain crossed $600 million in total value locked, per Artemis analytics, just three weeks after its mainnet went live on July 1.
The ramp was aggressive. The chain started under $5 million, hit nine figures in its first week, and cleared half a billion before July was out.
What's doing the lifting, though, isn't tokenized real-world assets, the thing Robinhood actually built this chain for. It's memecoins.
Robinhood Chain is a permissionless Ethereum Layer-2 running on Arbitrum Orbit technology, designed to bring traditional finance on-chain and support RWA trading. The reality on the ground looks different.
By July 21, Artemis put TVL at roughly $588.9 million, with the figure since clearing $600 million. Stablecoins account for the bulk: around $433 million in stablecoin deposits by available snapshots. Uniswap alone has accumulated over $80 million in TVL on the chain.
Daily DEX volume has been running above $800 million, and the vast majority of that is memecoin speculation.
Not every data provider agrees on the headline number. DeFiLlama puts TVL closer to $314 million, nearly $300 million below Artemis. The gap is common in DeFi analytics, where platforms disagree on what counts as "locked" versus "bridged" versus simply "deposited." That discrepancy matters: a chunk of the reported value could be double-counted or otherwise overstated.
Monthly active users reportedly range between 280,000 and 1.6 million, a spread wide enough to suggest the methodologies vary significantly across platforms.
The memecoin dominance creates a real tension for Robinhood. Institutional capital interested in tokenized RWAs tends to avoid ecosystems associated with dog-themed tokens and speculative micro-caps. If the chain gets labeled a memecoin venue, the TradFi pitch gets harder to make.
On the quieter side, Robinhood's Earn product, offering retail users around 7% yields on stablecoin deposits, pulled in over $100 million shortly after launch. That rate sits above most traditional savings accounts and is competitive with DeFi lending rates, which gives it genuine pull without relying on speculation.
