Forty digital asset companies made CNBC and Statista's World's Top Fintech Companies 2026 list, representing 8% of the 500 firms selected across eight industry segments. Ripple was among them, and the company marked the moment with an X post on July 22, noting the recognition reflects years of building customer relationships through multiple market cycles rather than chasing short-term trends.

From Crypto Hype to Banking Infrastructure

CNBC's framing of the list is telling. The publication described blockchain as moving into real-world business use cases as the sector becomes more institutionalized, with financial firms adopting the technology for payments, custody, tokenization, compliance, and liquidity management. That's a significant shift in how a mainstream financial broadcaster is characterizing the space.

Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse recently pointed to correspondent banking as a core target, citing roughly $16 trillion processed annually through that system. Cross-border payments have always been Ripple's pitch to banks, and that pitch is now landing with more institutional ears.

The full list was assembled after CNBC and Statista assessed around 3,500 companies using more than 25,000 data points. Companies appear alphabetically within each category, so there's no numerical ranking to parse.

XRP's Expanding Institutional Channels

Three concrete developments are widening XRP's institutional reach right now:

  • Ripple secured compliance under the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework, giving European financial institutions a regulated path to its infrastructure.
  • DBS and Franklin Templeton connected RLUSD with a tokenized money-market fund on the XRP Ledger, building a live framework for real-time access to tokenized assets and liquidity.
  • The IMF has flagged similar tokenization developments as actively reshaping regulated financial markets globally.

The MiCA clearance is particularly significant for European banks that have been sitting on the sidelines waiting for a unified regulatory framework before committing to blockchain infrastructure. That framework now exists, and Ripple is positioned inside it.
