Ripple has quietly injected funds into two British startups, ZILO and Licuido, as part of its ongoing strategy to deepen its foothold in capital markets via the XRP Ledger (XRPL). The exact amounts remain under wraps, but the move strengthens Ripple’s existing collaborations with these companies.

ZILO specializes in transfer agency and fund administration technology tailored for managing tokenized assets. Licuido, on the other hand, focuses on issuing, distributing, and executing traditional assets by transforming them into digital collateral. Ripple plans to use both firms’ expertise to introduce regulated transfer agency services, issuance, and collateral mobility on XRPL, enhancing the infrastructure that supports capital markets on its blockchain.

This development ties into Ripple’s broader vision of tokenizing fund structures and bringing traditional finance mechanisms onto XRPL. Earlier this year, Ripple partnered with Aviva Investors, a major asset manager controlling $345 billion in assets, to tokenize fund offerings, marking a significant step in mainstream adoption of blockchain technology within capital markets.

Nigel Khakoo, Ripple’s SVP of Trading and Markets, highlighted that the true power of tokenization comes from smooth capabilities like trading, settlement, and borrowing, which these investments aim to facilitate. With an important XRPL upgrade on the horizon, Ripple is clearly positioning itself to accelerate the digital transformation of capital markets.
