On August 3, Ripple announced strategic investments in two UK-based companies, ZILO and Licuido, aiming to enhance tokenized fund operations on the XRP Ledger (XRPL). These moves mark a significant push to broaden Ripple's digital capital markets infrastructure.
ZILO launched a new integrated platform that blends traditional transfer agency roles with digital asset issuance functionalities. This allows institutions to manage both conventional fund units and tokenized shares within a single system, handling services like settlement, payments, and regulatory reporting without needing separate tech stacks for digital assets.
Licuido focuses on token issuance, distribution, and secondary trading, supporting tokenized fund units that can be used as collateral. The company operates under FCA regulations through an appointed representative status. Ripple’s support aims to help Licuido scale its issuance and trading infrastructure on the XRPL. Meanwhile, Ripple's RLUSD stablecoin will facilitate delivery versus payment settlements for tokenized assets.
Financial details of these investments remain undisclosed, with no information on ownership shares or specific targets. Ripple emphasized the deals would integrate transfer agency, token issuance, trading, and collateral mobility capabilities into its institutional framework. This development follows recent efforts by Ripple to strengthen XRP Ledger’s role in tokenized finance.
