Recursive Superintelligence, barely six months into its existence, just agreed to spend $400 million on Amazon's cloud computing services. This massive commitment represents the bulk of the startup's total funds raised so far, underscoring its aggressive push in the AI infrastructure race.

Emerging from stealth mode in April 2026, Recursive Superintelligence secured between $500 million and $650 million in Series A funding, valuing the company between $4 billion and $4.65 billion. Investors like GV, Greycroft, NVIDIA Ventures, and AMD Ventures backed the startup, which now channels most of its capital straight into Amazon's cloud platform.

Building AI That Improves Itself

At the core of Recursive Superintelligence’s mission is developing AI systems capable of redesigning and retraining themselves autonomously what the founders call “Level 1” autonomous training. In other words, the AI improves its own algorithms without any human adjustments. CEO Richard Socher leads a team moving swiftly, setting research goals measured in quarters rather than years.

The deal also highlights the intertwining of AI startups and GPU suppliers. Both NVIDIA Ventures and AMD Ventures took equity positions in Recursive’s funding round, signaling chipmakers’ growing role not just as hardware providers but as strategic investors in AI innovators.
