The National Fraternal Order of Police (FOP), the largest police union in the United States, has officially backed the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act. This move came on July 24, when FOP National President Patrick Yoes sent a letter endorsing the legislation, highlighting revisions to Section 10604 of the Blockchain Regulatory Certainty Act (BRCA) as a key factor behind their support.
The Clarity Act aims to bring more regulatory certainty to the digital asset sector by defining clear boundaries for crypto assets and their oversight. The union’s endorsement marks a notable expansion in the coalition supporting the bill, which already counts three prominent cryptocurrency organizations among its advocates lobbying the Senate.
Growing Cross-Sector Support for Crypto Regulation
The involvement of the FOP adds unexpected weight to the push for clearer digital asset rules, signaling that concerns around public safety and law enforcement are being addressed in the legislation’s latest draft. The police union’s stance could influence lawmakers weighing the bill’s impact on crime prevention and regulatory clarity.
The coalition lobbying for the Clarity Act includes major players in the crypto space who have been actively engaging with senators to shape the bill’s provisions. Their combined efforts could pave the way for a regulatory framework that balances innovation with security, providing guidance to both industry participants and law enforcement agencies.
