Nebius has powered up its first Nvidia Vera Rubin NVL72 rack at a Finland data center, marking a key step in expanding its AI infrastructure. This move comes shortly after Nvidia took a 9.3% passive stake in Nebius, underscoring their growing partnership in the AI hardware arena.
The Launch and Ongoing Validation
The Vera Rubin rack is now online and validation processes have begun to prepare the system for commercial workloads. Nebius integrated Nvidia's Spectrum-6 networking switches with the new rack, enabling high-throughput data transfer key for demanding AI tasks. Alongside hardware testing, Nebius is fine-tuning software performance to ensure the platform meets production standards.
Completion of validation will allow Nebius to offer this upgraded AI computing power to clients, aiming to improve memory bandwidth and reduce inference costs compared to Nvidia's previous Blackwell architecture. This follows Nvidia’s recent expansion of the Vera Rubin platform across major cloud providers like Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure, enhancing AI service efficiency at scale.
Financial Backing to Fuel Growth
Supporting this rollout, Nebius secured $775 million in GPU-backed debt financing earlier this month, enabling growth without diluting shareholders. The company has also highlighted over $40 billion in contracted revenue with investment-grade clients, showing solid demand for its AI infrastructure.
With Nvidia’s backing and substantial funding, Nebius is well positioned to accelerate its AI data center expansion. This development illustrates the escalating competition among cloud and infrastructure providers to deploy cutting-edge AI hardware.
