Version 3.11.0 landed on July 20, and it quietly did something most crypto apps avoid: it made the free tier genuinely better instead of quietly hollowing it out. NEAR Mobile collapsed its old three-tier membership structure into two tiers, Basic and Premium, and the users who benefit most are the ones who weren't paying anything to begin with.

The app confirmed the change in a post on X, framing it as a simpler system designed to push more features toward free users, sharpen the premium experience, and reinforce the long-term utility of the NPRO token. Hitting all three at once in a single release is unusual. Most projects quietly sacrifice one of those goals to protect the other two.

What free users get now

Basic, the zero-cost tier, now unlocks up to two wallets, full Investor Info access, price change notifications, standard swap fees at 0.88%, and standard staking fees at 5%. Zero NPRO required. That's a meaningful shift: a feature set that previously sat behind a token requirement is now available to anyone who downloads the app and opens it for the first time.

Premium still exists, and the bar to reach it went up. New members need to hold 500 NPRO for a full year to qualify, compared to the old threshold of 250 NPRO with just a one-month commitment. Existing Premium members keep their original 250 NPRO and one-month terms. In return, Premium gives unlimited wallets, direct human support, reduced swap fees at 0.66%, and zero staking fees entirely.

Raising the entry requirement while expanding what free users get actually makes the two tiers more distinct, not less. Basic covers casual users and new entrants with no friction. Premium is clearly aimed at people trading or staking enough volume that a 0.22-percentage-point fee reduction compounds into real savings over time.

On the staking side, users can earn NPRO natively inside the app by staking NEAR. Pool metrics at the time of the update showed a 7.50% variable APY based on market value, roughly $204,000 in liquidity, and 2.81 million NEAR already staked in the pool.
