Strategy, helmed by Michael Saylor, revealed a fresh set of bitcoin-related metrics on July 24. These indicators, including Net BTC, Net BTC Per Share, and BTC Hurdle ARR, aim to give investors a clearer understanding of the company’s massive bitcoin treasury, which currently holds 843,775 BTC purchased for $63.69 billion at an average price of $75,476 per coin.

Saylor explained the need for what he calls a "new financial language" in Bitcoin Capital Markets, stating Strategy has refined its measurement tools to better capture the value of Bitcoin, Digital Credit, and Digital Equity. This update replaces or supplements older benchmarks that investors have relied on for years to evaluate whether Strategy’s bitcoin accumulation is adding or eroding shareholder value.

The company’s capital structure has become increasingly complex with multiple classes of preferred stock and an expanding Digital Credit division, complicating the simple previous narrative of a public company holding bitcoin. These new metrics aim to give a more accurate picture of the bitcoin value that truly belongs to common shareholders amid those changes.

What These New Metrics Reveal

The centerpiece is Net BTC Per Share (Net BPS), a bitcoin-denominated equivalent of book value per share, which accounts for the company’s net debt and preferred equity claims. Strategy is retiring its old mNAV benchmark and will now compare its share price directly against Net BPS, using 1.0x as a critical threshold to watch for dilution risk.

More sophisticated figures introduced include BTC Hurdle ARR, which represents the annualized bitcoin return required to cover the effective funding costs basically, the yield needed to surpass the expenses tied to servicing debt and preferred stock. BTC Floor ARR sets a baseline showing the minimum bitcoin return necessary to maintain a 1.0x BTC Rating under the current capital framework.

also Strategy renamed its Amplification metric as the Bitcoin Equity Multiplier, illustrating how much the capital structure amplifies bitcoin price swings experienced by common shareholders. The company also added more straightforward market indicators like Premium to 200-week moving average and a Fear & Greed Index to enhance investor insight.
