Maxim Group has downgraded its price target for MicroStrategy (NASDAQ: MSTR) to $215, marking a shift in Wall Street's appetite for the software company's aggressive Bitcoin accumulation strategy.

The move reflects growing skepticism among institutional investors about whether MSTR's massive crypto holdings justify its current valuation. The company has spent billions acquiring Bitcoin as its core business strategy, betting that cryptocurrency appreciation will drive shareholder returns. But analysts are now questioning whether this bet tilts risk-reward heavily against equity holders.

MicroStrategy holds one of the largest corporate Bitcoin treasuries on the planet, a position that amplifies both gains and losses alongside BTC price swings. When Bitcoin rallies, MSTR tends to outperform. When it stumbles, shareholders feel the pain twice over. Maxim's downgrade suggests the bank sees more downside risk than upside potential from here, at least in the near term.

The lower target puts pressure on the stock, which had benefited from the recent crypto bull run and strong Bitcoin performance over the past months. Investors who viewed MSTR as a leveraged Bitcoin play may now reconsider their thesis, especially if other major investment banks follow Maxim's lead with similar downgrades.
