140 million transactions processed, 11 million addresses reached, and Litecoin's DeFi ecosystem still sitting at just $700,000 in total value locked. That gap tells you everything about where LitVM stands right now.

LitVM is an EVM-compatible layer-2 being built on top of Litecoin. It runs transactions off-chain and settles them back on the base layer, leaving Litecoin's core security model untouched. The LiteForge public testnet has been running since April 2026 and has pulled in over 4.4 million wallets, with more than 63 million transactions processed in that window alone. Developers have been testing DeFi apps, AI agents, and cross-chain tools on the network, which points to real experimentation rather than empty traffic.

Still, testnet numbers always carry an asterisk. Incentive programs and curiosity-driven activity tend to inflate participation well beyond what mainnet retention looks like. The $700K TVL figure from DeFiLlama is the more honest signal: technical progress is outrunning actual ecosystem adoption by a wide margin.

If the mainnet launch goes through, LTC could take on roles beyond simple peer-to-peer payments, acting as a gas token, collateral, or a yield-generating asset within a broader DeFi stack. That would spread demand across more use cases instead of concentrating it on transfer fees. But the Q4 2026 target is a development goal, not a locked date. Smart contract layers and cross-chain bridges also introduce fresh attack surfaces, and audits at that scale take time. Technical readiness without committed liquidity and consistent developer activity has a poor track record of sustaining growth on any chain.
