Japanese tech firm Eole Co. Ltd. has made waves by snapping up Hyperliquid’s native token, HYPE, marking what might be the first time a publicly traded Japanese company holds this digital asset on its corporate balance sheet. On July 28, Eole bought 1,078.25 HYPE tokens at an average price of about 9,353 yen each, spending just over 10 million yen. But that’s only the start the firm has set its sights on expanding this position to a hefty 100 million yen by August 2026, depending on market conditions.

Eole plans to use its HYPE holdings actively rather than simply holding them as a static asset. The company is preparing for a future where payments, contracts, and financial transactions are increasingly handled by autonomous AI agents. To support this vision, Eole chose Hyperliquid’s high-speed Layer-1 blockchain technology for its ability to process thousands of transactions per second with latency below 100 milliseconds. Its Ethereum compatibility through HyperEVM adds to the network’s appeal for decentralized finance and AI-driven applications.

Although HYPE’s price slipped about 3% to $53.15 recently, it has climbed steadily from $38 since its Spot ETF debut in May 2026. This ETF rollout has notably boosted demand and market capitalization, outpacing flows seen in Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs. This momentum likely encouraged Eole to integrate HYPE tokens into their treasury, tapping into the growing trend of institutional digital asset strategies.

Backing autonomous AI finance shows Eole betting on a new wave of blockchain use cases beyond traditional crypto plays. This move reflects an evolving landscape where corporations look at tokens not just as investments but as critical components in next-gen financial infrastructure.
