Intuitive Surgical's stock surged nearly 6%, closing at $357.15, following news of a partnership with Deion Sanders, aka Coach Prime, to boost public understanding of robotic-assisted surgery.

The initiative stems from Sanders' own experience: after his bladder cancer diagnosis, he opted for robotic surgery using Intuitive's da Vinci system. His journey inspired the campaign, which aims to help patients access reliable information and engage more confidently with doctors about their surgical options.

The company highlighted that many patients face emotional and rushed decisions when choosing treatments. This campaign focuses on educating patients and caregivers, encouraging them to ask questions and explore options before proceeding.

Jaime Wong, Intuitive’s Chief Medical Officer, remarked that well-informed patients tend to have deeper, more productive conversations with healthcare providers. Emphasizing education over promotion, the campaign offers resources through the da Vinci platform explaining robotic surgery and treatment considerations.

Globally, Intuitive continues to lead in robotic-assisted minimally invasive procedures, with over 20 million performed to date. This latest effort shows the company’s push toward empowering patient decision making in complex surgical scenarios.
