Interactive Brokers Group saw its shares fall nearly 2%, closing at $90.45, following news of its widened AI account integration across multiple platforms. The brokerage firm has enhanced its support for the Model Context Protocol (MCP), enabling a wider range of AI-powered portfolio analysis and research tools to connect to client accounts.

Expanding AI Access Through MCP Integration

Initially, the firm's AI connectivity targeted a handful of certified platforms like ChatGPT, Claude, and Grok. Now, Interactive Brokers has extended AI compatibility to additional MCP-supported applications including Claude Code, Cursor, Perplexity, and Windsurf. This strategic expansion aligns with the company's commitment to open APIs, allowing clients to use tools they already trust for investment decisions. MCP serves as a key bridge, standardizing how AI apps communicate with brokerage services, making integrations smoother and more secure.

Enhancing Portfolio Management with AI

The upgraded integration lets AI tools process natural language queries to analyze portfolios, assess risks, and conduct market research. Clients benefit from features like stress testing under various economic scenarios, evaluating currency exposures, and monitoring implied volatility or historical price movements. Although AI generates trade recommendations, the final decision requires user approval before executing orders, preserving human oversight. These enhancements push Interactive Brokers deeper into AI-enabled workflows, supporting more informed and flexible portfolio management.
