IREN has significantly increased its AI Cloud revenue target for the end of 2026, raising it from $3.7 billion to over $4 billion. This revision reflects the company securing $2.8 billion in new multi-year cloud service contracts, locking in approximately 85% of its updated revenue goal through agreements with major AI developers.
Scaling AI Infrastructure at an Unprecedented Pace
The core driver behind IREN's boosted forecast is its aggressive expansion of AI Cloud capacity. The company is moving from just 3MW of self-built capacity a year ago to delivering 480MW in 2026, with a target of 1.2GW in 2027. This rapid scale-up is unusual in the cloud infrastructure space, where capacity growth typically lags behind demand due to long lead times and capital intensity.
IREN’s clientele includes tech heavyweights like Microsoft, NVIDIA, and emerging AI innovators such as Perplexity, Figure AI, and Fal AI. recent contracts involve prepayments covering about 45% of GPU capital expenditure, illustrating strong customer confidence and reducing financial risk for IREN’s expansion.
This capacity build-out is key. As each data center reaches commissioning and acceptance, revenue streams will accelerate, underpinning the $4 billion run-rate target. The company reports demand from hyperscalers, enterprises, and frontier AI labs outstripping current and planned infrastructure, an indicator of solid market appetite that may pressure competitors.
Financial Stability Amid Rapid Investment
On the balance sheet front, IREN held $7.6 billion cash and equivalents as of June 30, 2026, including $1.7 billion restricted cash linked to GPU financing for Microsoft contracts. Despite a negative levered free cash flow of $2.3 billion over the past year due to capital expenditures, these resources provide a buffer to sustain the build-out.
While the stock price has dropped 38% in six months, it remains up 87% over the last year, suggesting investor confidence in the company's long-term growth despite near-term costs. Inclusion in the Russell 1000 Index and leadership appointments like Eric Hammersley as Chief Information Officer further support IREN’s stability and strategic execution.
