HashKey Holdings announced plans to acquire 100% of Asia Pacific Exchange (APEX), a Singapore-based regulated derivatives exchange and clearing house. This move aims to enhance HashKey’s institutional-grade services and expand its financial infrastructure footprint across Asia.
Singapore’s Exclusive Dual-License Advantage
APEX is among only three operators in Singapore holding both an Approved Exchange (AE) and an Approved Clearing House (ACH) license from the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS). This rare dual-licensing allows it to provide full services including exchange trading, clearing, issuance, and settlement under one roof. HashKey’s Singapore subsidiary, HKDAG (Singapore) Pte. Ltd., signed a preliminary agreement for the acquisition, signaling a significant step toward consolidating regulated crypto infrastructure in the region.
Strategic Expansion for Institutional Clients
If completed, the acquisition will enable HashKey to strengthen its suite of offerings such as trading, custody, payments, clearing, and settlement tailored for banks and professional investors. The company emphasized that this integration supports its ambition to build a smooth financial platform across Asia and global markets. Approval from MAS and due diligence are still pending, as the deal is not finalized.
On the same day, HashKey launched a unified trading app that merges access to regulated markets in Hong Kong, Singapore, Bermuda, and Dubai into one interface, illustrating the company’s focus on creating connected digital asset ecosystems across jurisdictions.
