On July 28, Gate US became the latest addition to BitGo's Go Network Off-Exchange Settlement service. This move opens the door for eligible institutional clients to trade using Gate US's U.S. liquidity while keeping their funds securely held at BitGo Bank & Trust.
Under this setup, institutional investors do not have to move assets into the exchange wallet before each trade. Instead, they allocate part of their holdings maintained in regulated custody at BitGo Bank & Trust. BitGo then projects this balance to Gate US for smooth order execution, and transactions settle off-chain without affecting the cold storage of assets. This approach contrasts with traditional exchange models where assets must be transferred repeatedly, reducing friction and potential risks.
Gate US’s Chief Operating Officer, Laura Liu, described the integration as providing a "secure and efficient path" for clients by leveraging regulated custody, though concrete metrics comparing speed or cost advantages over conventional methods have yet to be published.
A Growing Network of Venues
With Gate US joining, ten venues now participate in BitGo’s Off-Exchange Settlement network. BitGo Bank operates under an OCC national trust charter effective since December 2025, marking a significant compliance milestone for custodial services. The Gate US partnership extends a broader collaboration initiated earlier in July, where BitGo was appointed to deliver institutional custody, wallet management, and risk controls as Gate US expands its footprint in the U.S.
This method separates custody from trade execution roles BitGo Bank & Trust securely manages assets and settlements, while Gate US operates the exchange platform and processes orders. While the companies have not disclosed financial arrangements or specific trading volume projections, this collaboration signals growing demand for custody solutions that blend security with trading flexibility.
