Fortitude, a major institutional miner in the Zcash network, is ramping up its mining power significantly. The firm inked a deal to acquire 9,000 Antminer Z15 Pro machines from Bitmain, specialized in Equihash mining. This upgrade is set to increase the network's hashrate by roughly 7.56 GSol/s once the equipment is deployed fully.

The delivery will happen in two waves: 3,000 units arriving this October and the remaining 6,000 slated for November. Fortitude invested $31.5 million in this purchase, valuing each miner at $3,499. Such a sizable investment ranks among the biggest public moves in expanding Zcash mining this year.

Consolidating a Leading Role in Zcash

Fortitude's mining footprint already commands a substantial share of the Zcash ecosystem. Through mid-2026, the company mined 72,696 ZEC, accounting for about 28% of total production. Their operations span over 60 MW of contracted power across seven locations in South Dakota, Nebraska, Texas, and New York, where the new machines will integrate.

Alongside scaling hardware, Fortitude plans to enter public markets via a proposed merger with HeartSciences. If approved, the combined entity will trade on Nasdaq as TUDE, subject to regulatory and shareholder green lights.

While mining expansions take shape, Zcash as a network continues evolving with a roadmap focused on post-quantum security upgrades. Recent developments signal strong momentum for the protocol amid growing institutional interest.
