Fhenix and Canopy have joined forces to embed confidential computation directly into the Canopy Stack, allowing developers to build onchain apps where user data stays encrypted throughout processing. This integration removes the need for specialized cryptographers or separate cryptography setups, streamlining privacy-focused development.

The new Canopy Confidential App template leverages Fhenix’s CoFHE coprocessor using fully homomorphic encryption (FHE), enabling encrypted computations through a familiar TypeScript interface. Instead of retrofitting privacy features later, confidentiality is baked into the app development process from the start.

Unlike many blockchain networks which reveal data by default, Canopy and Fhenix aim to keep the network open while safeguarding sensitive commercial or personal information. Users encrypt inputs via the Canopy wallet before submitting them as standard transactions. Offchain CoFHE processing then handles encrypted data, with only verified results returned to update the blockchain state. This happens without altering the base consensus and through existing plugin and runtime layers, making it accessible without managing encryption keys separately.

The core Canopy components like plugin lifecycle hooks and state bridges are already live, and CoFHE is deployed across Ethereum, Arbitrum, and Ba. This approach could reshape how privacy is handled on public blockchains, offering developers a ready-made path to confidential onchain applications.
