The Ethereum Foundation has added pcaversaccio, co-founder of the crypto security hotline SEAL 911, to its Board of Directors for a one-year voluntary term. This appointment arrives as Ethereum’s ecosystem faces increasing incident response challenges.
Pcaversaccio, known as pc, brings hands-on experience coordinating crisis calls that occur when crypto protocols are under attack and losing funds. SEAL 911 acts like a critical hotline, connecting developers, auditors, and whitehat hackers to limit damage and manage security emergencies quickly.
Security Becomes a Core Priority
Previously, the board included names like Aya Miyaguchi and Vitalik Buterin. Adding pc, alongside Patrick Storchenegger, emphasizes that security is now a foundational principle shaping all Ethereum Foundation activities rather than just an isolated function. With Layer 2 solutions launching rapidly and the attack surface multiplying, swift, coordinated security decisions have become essential.
Pc also plays a role in the EF’s Silviculture Society, a community-focused initiative that influences the foundation’s culture. This signals a deeper alignment between the technical and social aspects of governance within the Ethereum ecosystem.
This move doesn’t signal a governance overhaul but shows the growing need for dedicated incident response leadership on the board. Ethereum’s rapid scale-up means attack risks keep growing, and having someone who knows exactly who to call in emergencies can prevent a minor breach from snowballing into a crisis.
