Emirates has rolled out Crypto.com Pay for flight bookings made by eligible UAE residents through its website and app. This new payment method allows customers to use supported cryptocurrencies while Emirates receives payments converted to UAE dirhams.

For mobile users, the payment approval happens within the Crypto.com app before they return to Emirates for confirmation and electronic ticket issuance. Desktop users follow a similar path by scanning a QR code, approving the crypto transaction in their wallet, and then completing the booking process on Emirates’ platform.

Payments Backed by Licensed Crypto Operations

Crypto.com operates this service under a Dubai license regulated by the UAE central bank’s Stored Value Facilities framework. This ensures each transaction follows strict oversight, with Crypto.com handling all digital asset conversions and paying Emirates entirely in dirhams. The airline avoids holding cryptocurrencies directly, minimizing exposure to price swings during the purchase process.

This launch aligns with Dubai’s ambitious plan to digitize 90% of all transactions by 2026, pushing forward the region’s move towards cashless payments. Emirates’ addition of Crypto.com Pay expands digital payment options for travelers, blending crypto convenience with traditional currency settlement.
