More than a year after signing a memorandum of understanding, Emirates has launched Crypto.com Pay as a payment option for flights booked online or through its mobile app. UAE residents with Crypto.com accounts can now pay in dirhams using the crypto payment solution, marking a significant expansion in digital payment options for travelers.

Payment Flow and User Experience

When booking on the Emirates mobile app, customers are automatically redirected to the Crypto.com app to complete their payment. Desktop users, on the other hand, scan a QR code displayed during checkout, then authorize the transaction through Crypto.com's app before receiving their booking confirmation and e-ticket.

Regulatory Milestone and Strategic Partnership

This integration leverages Crypto.com’s Dubai-based entity, which holds the UAE Central Bank’s Stored Value Facilities license a first for virtual asset service providers in the region. Eric Anziani, Crypto.com’s President and COO, remarked that this collaboration shows the UAE’s proactive stance on fintech innovation. Emirates’ Deputy President, Adnan Kazim, emphasized how this payment method caters to digitally savvy customers who expect smooth mobile experiences when managing travel plans.
