Emirates Airlines has opened the door for cryptocurrency payments, allowing customers based in the UAE to book flights using Shiba Inu (SHIB) along with 29 other digital coins. This move comes as part of a new integration with Crypto.com Pay, a payment solution linked to the Crypto.com exchange.
Travelers can now pay for their Emirates flights directly through the airline's website or mobile app by using Crypto.com Pay, provided they have a Crypto.com account and reside in the UAE. The transactions settle in Emirati Dirham (AED), making it easier for crypto holders to convert their assets into travel without the usual conversion hassles.
The list of supported cryptocurrencies is extensive, including major players like Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and stablecoins such as USDT and USDC, alongside trending altcoins like Dogecoin (DOGE), Cardano (ADA), and the dog-themed Shiba Inu, which has gained traction for its growing real-world utility. This development highlights the increasing acceptance of digital currencies in mainstream industries, particularly in travel.
By adopting Crypto.com Pay, Emirates enables smooth crypto payments, benefiting customers who prefer digital assets over traditional payment methods. This also reflects a broader trend where companies tap into crypto’s potential to offer more flexible, borderless payment options.
For Shiba Inu, this is a notable milestone, reinforcing its position beyond speculative trading toward practical use cases. The airline's embrace of 30 cryptocurrencies signals growing confidence in digital tokens to facilitate everyday transactions. It follows other signs of adoption worldwide, such as wallet listings enabling real-world payments in Japan, expanding SHIB's footprint in global markets.
