Emirates airline now accepts Crypto.com Pay for flight bookings, giving customers in the United Arab Emirates an alternative way to pay using cryptocurrency. This new payment method was activated after an earlier memorandum of understanding between Emirates and Crypto.com.
How Crypto.com Pay Integrates Into Emirates' Booking System
Customers booking flights through Emirates in the UAE can choose Crypto.com Pay alongside traditional payment options. This update affects only the payment process, not the airline’s ticketing or operations. Emirates confirmed the rollout via its media center, signaling a broader acceptance of crypto payments in the aviation sector.
Previously, Emirates hinted at this launch when signing the agreement, but now the option is live and accessible on the airline’s payment page. Local news framed the introduction as Emirates accepting cryptocurrency for the first time within the UAE market.
What This Means for Crypto Payments in the Region
The integration strengthens Crypto.com’s footprint in the Middle East, a region showing increasing openness to digital assets. While the feature currently targets UAE residents, it may pave the way for expansion to other Emirates markets.
This move follows other crypto adoption trends, such as volatile Bitcoin trading activity and regulatory steps like Bitcoin Suisse’s MiCAR license acquisition.
