DEXE's value plunged from a record $49.43 to just $1.56 in less than two weeks, marking a staggering 96.8% collapse. This sharp fall coincided with almost 800,000 DEXE tokens moving to Binance via six transfers initiated by the crypto custodian Ceffu starting July 13, raising questions about the token’s price dynamics and possible connections to DWF Labs.
Rapid Price Drop and Large Token Movements
The token hit its all-time high on July 12, but by the next day it began a swift decline. July 21 saw the steepest plunge when DEXE dropped 88% in a single session, tumbling from $46.93 to $5.65. On-chain analyst Ai Yi examined the token flows and noticed that apart from exchange wallets, only Ceffu transferred more than $1 million worth of DEXE, making its activity particularly notable.
Ceffu, a crypto custody platform, moved 797,917 DEXE tokens to Binance in six transactions. At the time of these transfers, the tokens were valued at $6.15 million, though their worth had been significantly higher before the downturn.
Possible Trading Strategies Behind Delayed Transfers
Ai Yi's analysis focused on Ceffu’s MirrorX service, which permits institutional clients to trade assets on exchanges while keeping the underlying tokens in custody. This setup allows for positions on exchanges to be created in advance of the on-chain transfer, meaning asset movement on the blockchain can lag behind actual trading activity.
Given this, the six transfers to Binance might have settled trading positions opened earlier, potentially before the token’s price began falling on July 13. If those tokens were deployed in trading prior to the visible transfer, their effective value could have been close to $39.44 million, much higher than the on-chain transfer value suggests.
Importantly, Ai Yi framed this as a plausible scenario rather than confirmed fact. There is no direct evidence proving the tokens were sold prior to on-chain settlement, nor clarity on who owns the assets or if all transferred tokens were sold.
Unclear Links to DEXE Team and DWF Labs
The origin of the tokens held by Ceffu remains uncertain. Ai Yi's review found no public data tying DEXE’s own team to Ceffu custody. Most tokens linked to the project appear locked in the decentralized autonomous organization’s treasury or under team vesting contracts.
Seeking a connection to DWF Labs, Ai Yi pointed to Falcon Finance, a partner listed by DEXE, but no definitive links emerged. This ambiguity has only fueled speculation about whether sophisticated players might have influenced the recent price crash through custodial transfers.
The market continues to watch for confirmation, as token movements and suspicious timing hint at complex trading activity behind DEXE’s freefall.
